SGS Environmental Updates

SGS Environmental is constantly improving services and expanding our laboratory network. Following are the recent improvements we have implemented to better serve our clients:

  • New Townsville operations. A dedicated environmental officer is now present to assist with the supply of sampling containers and to receive samples. Primarily using the SGS Cairns facility to service the region, it offers access to a laboratory with local knowledge and expertise.

  • Full service laboratory on track for the in-house processing of samples in Melbourne by January 2009. As part of SGS Environmental’s specialist testing facility the laboratory will be able to perform routine testing alongside its specialist organics capabilities.

  • SGS Perth is now fully operational. Chemists and technicians have settled into their new state of the art facility at the Perth airport and samples are being processed normally. SGS Perth looks forward to supplying clients with efficient, quality and reliable data over the years to come.

  • Carbon reduction programs are now gaining increased focus. SGS Environmental has a long history of air analysis and has many years of in-house expertise available for your assistance. If your firm is looking at expanding into air analysis be assured that SGS has the knowledge and expertise to help your business grow.

  • USEPA 8270. Comprising of 159 analytes the SGS 8270 technique allows clients to access a broad scope of compounds in one analysis. Please contact your local SGS office for further details.

  • TPH Fingerprinting will soon be available through the SGS network and we are on track to have the service running by early 2009.

SGS Global Updates

  • SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of the soil, leaf, fertilizer and water testing activities of CAL based in Cape Town, South Africa. Previously part of the Astral Foods Group, the business is a leader in the precision agriculture sector in South Africa.

  • SGS is currently actively involved in project certification of several new offshore wind farm projects in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK and France. SGS is the leading certification and inspection company for onshore and offshore wind energy life cycle services.

  • SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of the PiD Group, a leading Brazilian group specializing in valve calibration, maintenance, electrical assembly, testing, training and consultancy activities. The Company is head-quartered in Esteio (Rio Grande do Sul), with offices in Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo, Brazil.

  • Launching of SGS Egypt Pesticide Residues Analysis Laboratory. SGS is also pleased to announce the commercial inauguration of its state of the art pesticide residue monitoring laboratory on September 1st 2008. Egypt has a fast growing economy, and is one of the leading agricultural producers in Africa and the Middle East regions. The establishment of this pesticide residue laboratory is seen as a priority in the face of growing demands for third party testing, from growers, exporters, packinghouses and crop protection manufacturers.
