Certification of OGK-2 quality management system according to ISO 9001:2000 The Second Generation Company of Electric Energy Wholesale Market» Public Company (in abbreviated form OAO “OGK-2”) is one of the leaders in production and sales of power energy among generation companies in Russia. Currently ОGK-2 controls share holdings of five large federal thermal power plants with total capacity 8,5 GW. OАО “OGK-2” has developed and implemented the quality management system in compliance with ISO 9001:2000 international standard requirements that has been certified by SGS Vostok Limited, the Russian subsidiary of SGS.  …This enabled us to use audit reports not only for improvements but also to comprehend our competitive advantages in the energy market.  SGS Vostok Limited has been the partner of «The Second Generation Company of Electric Energy Wholesale Market» Public Company (OAO “OGK-2”) since the end of 2006. We find important the fact that SGS started cooperating with our company before we have selected the certification body and initiated the certification process. This cooperation helped us to identify the certification scheme that best fits our company in respect to minimization of certification expenses and minimization of resources spent on certification. Having undergone through rather a strict selection from a range of certification bodies and having won the tender SGS proved to be a highly competent and customer-oriented organization, that we further made certain of while OGK-2 specialists participated in SGS training courses and when SGS was conducting certification audits. OGK-2 would like to specially thank SGS for having trained our staff in the area of quality management and management system auditing. This training has significantly facilitated the QMS development in our Company and assured high level performance of the system. In the course of the preparation process to certification as well as during auditing SGS experts also rendered assistance to our Company on its difficult way toward perfection. They explained in an extremely clear and precise manner the certification procedure we had to go through. Later, while conducting the audits, SGS experts proved to be top class ones by establishing smooth communication with our Company’s staff, by demonstrating adherence to principles, ability to go quickly deep into the verified activity and pay attention to the issues requiring corrections or improvements. We have particularly appreciated the fact that beside the identified non-conformities auditors noted some aspects they considered as our strengths but that we used to perceive as a customary norm. This enabled us to use audit reports not only to improve the system but also to comprehend our competitive advantages in the energy market.
