Mutual Trust between BP and SGS
BP is one of the world's largest energy companies, providing its customers with fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, plus retail services and petrochemical products for everyday items.
Based on a competitive tender process, BP chose the Industrial Division of SGS Netherlands BV for the performance of Non-Destructive Testing on all installations in the entire refinery at Europoort. The inspection services are always done in close consultation with BP‘s internal inspection department.
One of the latest projects that SGS Netherlands BV worked on for BP Europoort was the provision of technical support for the installation of a special bunker that is suitable for x-ray testing on site.
 We always work in close cooperation with SGS Industrial Services and we view the SGS team more as a partner than an inspection company. SGS personnel consistently work hard to ensure an optimal security situation for our refinery. Always striving to operate as efficiently as possible, SGS deploys as few people as necessary while maintaining the highest possible level of quality.
We have nothing but praise for SGS. Any problems that emerge are resolved by both parties. There certainly is mutual trust. And that‘s how it should be. 
In order to ensure the technical integrity of our pressure-containing equipment and installations, we awarded SGS IND Netherlands with the contract for performance of reliable inspections and NDT services.
For new construction projects for example, SGS inspects all the welding and construction work. Furthermore, SGS applies radioactive sources and digital radiography to measure the wall thickness of pipelines on stream, i.e., while they are still in operation. The data provided by SGS is used by us to demonstrate that all the components of the installations still meet the legal requirements.
During our Turn Around (TAR) phase, SGS performed most of its testing on CDU4, including Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD), Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing (UT), as well as Magnetic and Penetrating Testing (MTPT). With assets such as CDU4 and our inspection staff, SGS personnel work to provide an optimal security situation, especially in the TAR phase.
For us, SGS is a reliable contractor for all NDT Services. With a very dedicated crew and site staff, it has been an extremely pleasant experience and we are happy to recommend SGS to other companies. We are sure that SGS will do an excellent job once again.
