SGS acquires the Alvey Group

SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Alvey Group, who is a leading independent provider of comprehensive field research services and of GPS soil sampling and testing services to the US agriculture market.

This acquisition compliments previous strategic acquisitions made in the US agriculture market in the past year and will create a platform for SGS to grow these businesses in the USA as well as international opportunities in Latin America and Europe.

Operating in the Midwest USA, the Alvey Goup comprises of Alvey Laboratories Inc., Mowers Inc., CropWatch Inc. and Alvey Agricultural Research, and employs 68 full-time and part-time staff. Founded in 1976, the Alvey Group had consolidated revenues in 2007 in excess of $6.8 million.
